Process Engineer Internship

Development of a non-economic evaluation tool of chemical and biochemical processes

Ypso-Facto has significant activities in the development of modeling and simulation software of chemical and biochemical unit operations and processes for the production of molecules for the life science industries (pharma, cosmetic, agrochemistry, etc.) or material sciences. The aims of the software are to address both technical and economic considerations to develop, evaluate and optimize processes and unit operations. With the growing concerns of their environmental footprint, companies are also more and more interested in the evaluation of the sustainability of their processes that involve non-economic indicators dealing, for example, with water consumption, hazards of raw materials or effluents, energy intensiveness, etc.

The 6-month placement aims at defining, designing and developing a non-economic evaluation tool that will be implemented to the main software. The trainee will integrate the software development team and closely work with project managers of other business units to understand the needs and requirements expected from the non-economic evaluation tool. The internship will involve bibliographic research, meetings and interviews of internal and external people, design of the non-economic evaluation module (principles and interface requirements) and possibly programming.

  • Experience: Process engineer, final year.
  • Experience in programming (Fortran, C, Python, Pascal, Matlab, etc.) is a plus.
